G.K. Chesterton Papers, Undated

G.K. Chesterton was an English essayist, literary and social critic, novelist, and poet. The collection includes 26 loose drawings, two small sketchbooks, an illustrated poem, and a separate single page of verse, all in Chesterton's hand. The drawings on the loose sheets are in pencil, colored pencil, pen, and charcoal; they are chiefly of fantasy figures, fairy tale subjects, and faces and heads. One of the sketchbooks contains thirty-three drawings of members of imaginary families, most of which are captioned with the names of characters and other information. The other sketchbook contains twelve drawings of miscellaneous figures in colored crayon or chalk with no captions. The illustrated poem is titled ; it consists of about seventy lines of verse with crayon and watercolor illustrations, on six pages. The separate single page of verse consists of dialog between and two characters, and The Discovery of Pine St. George The Ruby King The Emerald King.
